(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - Community members are being asked to join Kensington's Krusade.

Kensington Harrison was recently crowned Pure International Junior Teen Indiana 2022.

To represent her title, Kensington has decided to put together gift baskets for children at Cincinnati Children's Hospital. The baskets will go to children on the oncology unit because Kensington want to be a pediatric oncology nurse when she grows up.

Kensington, along with Jennifer Gabbard, joined Eagle Country 99.3 last Friday to talk about the service project.

The Harrison's and Gabbard's have been close family friends for many years, a bond that grew stronger when Brady Gabbard was diagnosed with cancer in June 2021.

Kensington was the person behind the "Brady Strong" t-shirts that raised funds to help the Gabbard family with medical expenses.

Brady is once again inspiring Kensington. She plans to have the gift baskets delivered to Cincinnati Children's Hospital on April 28, representing Brady's football number.

"We are also doing this to raise awareness for childhood cancer because it is so underfunded," said Gabbard.

Community members can help with the project by donating items of comfort such as board games, stuffed animals, toys, coloring books and crayons, blankets, and fuzzy socks. Drop off locations have been set up at the Greendale Police Department and Lawrenceburg High School.

If enough donations come in, gift baskets will also be dropped off at Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis.

Monetary donations may be made via Venmo or PayPal.

To arrange a pickup, message Pure International Jr Teen Indiana 2022 on Facebook.
