Area K9 Handlers Show Skills at Annual OnPoint Seminar

K9 handlers from Aurora, Dillsboro, Lawrenceburg, Madison, and Dearborn Co. competed.

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – Five area police departments recently competed at the 2023 OnPoint K9 Seminar in Scottsville, Kentucky.

A total of 40 teams from eight states were at the competition, including K9 Units from Aurora Police, Dillsboro Police, Lawrenceburg Police, Madison Police, and the Dearborn County Sheriff’s Office.

Lawrenceburg PD K9 Handler Troy Cochran placed first in Narcotics. Another first place finish came from Madison PD K9 Handler Mariann Nichole in the Hard Dog / Fast Dog competition. Nichole also received the Gene England Allegiance Award.

Other top performers include:

  • Lawrenceburg PD K9 Handler Luke Gentry: 2nd Place Patrol
  • Dearborn County Sheriff’s Dept. K9 Handler Josh Cochran: 2nd Place Narcotics
  • Dillsboro PD K9 Handler Josh Cady: 3rd Place Randy Hare Detection Scramble
  • Lawrenceburg PD K9 Handler Greg Cannon: 4th Place Randy Hare Detection Scramble
