Altercation Between Walton Men Leads To Shooting

The incident reportedly took place early Sunday morning on Ashwood Drive.

(Walton, Ky.) – An altercation between two Walton men resulted in shots being fired early Sunday morning.

Boone County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the shooting on the 190 block of Ashwood Drive around 2:13 a.m.

Deputies say Kevin Sanders, 19, arrived to pick up Charles Chipman, 34, when they got into an altercation on the street.

According to a news release, Sanders shot Chipman multiple times. Chipman was transported to UC Medical Center and immediately went into surgery. He was placed into a medically induced coma and his current condition is described as stable.

Sanders has been taken into custody and is charged with one count of Assault 1st Degree (Class B Felony). He is lodged in the Boone County Detention Center. No bond has been set as of Monday morning.
