At 104 years of age, Luella Ropers of Lawrenceburg is not only the most senior member of the Dearborn County Hospital family; she may be the oldest volunteer in the United States. She was honored at the DCH Auxiliary Banquet at Dearborn Country Club, when she was presented a bouquet of flowers by Roger Howard, DCH President/CEO, and Sylvia Plashko, DCH Auxiliary President. The hospital thanks the Auxiliary volunteers with an annual banquet where they are recognized for their years of service. This year, 26 Auxilians were presented pins for the time in which they have volunteered, ranging from 500 to 22,000 hours.
Some of the honorees of the Dearborn County Hospital Auxiliary Banquet were married couples. The party is hosted by DCH to thank its Auxilians for their years of volunteering. In 2014, 26 Auxilians were presented pins for the number of hours in which they have volunteered. Three of the four couples who attended the dinner are (left to right) Richard and Janice Smoker of Florence, Kentucky, and Margie and Dick Harris of Rising Sun, with DCH Auxiliary President Sylvia Plashko and her husband Bruce of Hidden Valley. Not shown are Walter and Vicki Shroyer of Lawrenceburg. The Smokers, the Plashkos and the Shroyers were all given hour pins.
