(Columbus, Oh.) - The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) honored national champions at the 2019 AMA Championship Banquet.
The banquet recognizes star AMA athletes and was held during the 2019 AMA Legends & Champions Weekend, on December 7.
This year, the 2019 AMA Athlete of the Year from Grand Championship events was Aurora's own, Trevor Brunner. Winning 10 races and 4 class championships at the 2019 AMA Track Grand Championship led to receiving this prestigious award.
The 17-year-old started his racing career when he was 3-years-old on a 50cc. Now, Brunner races with a 450cc Modified to be named the Nicky Hayden AMA Flat Track Horizon Award Winner.
“It’s the number one thing I’ve worked for in my entire racing career,” Brunner tells AMA. “To earn [this] spot in amateur racing is the pinnacle of what I’ve been working for.”
