INDIANAPOLIS – Eight local high school basketball players have earned All-State honors from the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association.

The IBCA today announced their Girls All-State teams for the 2022-23 season.

East Central senior Josie Trabel was named to the Senior All-State Supreme 15.

The Supreme 15 is the top honor awarded and players were voted to that group without regard to school size.

It has been a big day for Trabel. She also learned Tuesday that she was selected for the Hoosier Basketball Magazine Senior Top 60 Workout. However, she will be unable to participate due to injury.

As a senior, Trabel averaged 20.3 points, 10.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 2.6 steals per game.

Fellow senior and teammate, Laney Baker, was one of four area seniors to be named All-State Honorable Mention. Baker, a Thomas More commit, averaged 13.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 2.3 steals this season.

Also on the honorable mention list is Lawrenceburg’s Lizzie Redar, Rushville’s Briley Munchel and Franklin County’s Kassidy Schell.

All three were among the top six scorers in the EIAC. Redar finished the season as the conference’s third-leading scorer at 14.6 points per game, and the top rebounder at 10.3 per game.

Schell averaged 14.3 points, while Munchel put up 13.5 points per game.

Greensburg’s Leah West was selected to the IBCA Underclass Large School All-State Team. The sophomore forward averaged 19.3 points and 8.0 rebounds per game.

Franklin County’s Nicole Mears and Jac-Cen-Del’s Julia Meyer were named Underclass Honorable Mention.

Mears averaged a double-double at 12.1 points and 10.1 rebounds a contest.

Meyer was the top scorer (13.1) and rebounder (6.6) for Jac-Cen-Del.
