Switz. Co., Milan Open Sectional Play with Wins over ORVC Rivals

Class A Sectional 44 kicked off at Rising Sun on Monday.

(Rising Sun, Ind.) - The 2026 IHSAA Girls Soccer State Tournament got underway on Monday evening. 

Local teams took to the pitch in Rising Sun for the start of Class A Sectional 44. 

The host Shiners played the opening game against rival Switzerland County. The Pacers outshot Rising Sun in the first half 20-0 but only found the back of the net once. 

Switzerland County would add four, second half goals to win the opening round match 5-0. 

Adalyn Archer and Aubrey Craig scored two goal each and Emma South added one. Assists were handed out by Kennedy Deck (2) and Emma South (1). 

In match two, Milan defeated South Ripley 6-1. 

Switzerland County (12-4-1, #6 in A) will take on Milan (8-5) on Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. The Pacers won both regular season meetings 6-2 and 9-2. 

The winner will face Oldenburg Academy (10-4-1, #1 in A) or Union County (9-4-1).
