(Vevay, Ind.) - Switzerland County football is in the midst of its winningest-season in program history.

The Pacers' program began in 2015. Since then, they have had two winning seasons, both coming over the last two years when they went 6-4 and 6-5.

Last Friday, Switzerland County won their seventh game of the season, improving to 7-2 overall with a 44-31 win over Salem in the first round of Sectional 40.

The comeback win lifted the Pacers to their most wins in a single season.

"We can be happy with the win tonight but not the route we took to get here", Head Coach Ryan Jesop stated after the game.

Senior running back Matthew Young broke the 1,000-yard mark on his way to 191 rushing yards and two touchdowns, including a 44-yard game-winning TD. Quarterback Alex Bailey threw for 126 yards and a touchdown and added 131 rushing yards with three more scores to power the Pacers.

Now the attention turns to Clarksville.

Switzerland County will play host to the Generals on Friday night (7 PM kickoff) in the sectional semifinals. They defeated Clarksville 48-0 during the regular season.

"Clarksville will be hungry to avenge that earlier loss and our guys will need to put together four quarters of football to advance next Friday," said Coach Jesop.

The winner will play either Paoli (8-2) or #2 Brownstown Central (10-0) in the sectional championship. The Pacers would be on the road regardless of opponent.
