(Aurora, Ind.) - A South Dearborn High School softball star will continue her playing career at the D-1 level.
Alexis Dittmer signed her letter of intent to the University of Southern Mississippi on Wednesday.
Dittmer, a four-year letter recipient, is a two-time all-conference selection at catcher, and helped led the Lady Knights to a Sectional Championship in 2019.
"Upon speaking with Coach Levin, it was apparent on the type of culture he wanted to create within the softball program. I knew I wanted to be a part of what he was creating. After visiting campus, the community was noticeably supportive and caring. Southern Miss is a friendly campus and it felt like the right fit academically and athletically," Dittmer said.
Dittmer is one of nine signees for Southern Miss' 2021 recruiting class.
Signing day...covid style! Couldn’t have done it without the amazing support system I have! The south is calling my name! Happy to officially be a Golden Eagle! 💛🖤 @SouthernMissSB @CoachMulvany @ShockwavesP @SouthDearbornHS pic.twitter.com/JxStRjqyCl
