Rising Sun Trio Earn ORVC Weekly Honors

The ORVC report for the week of April 9-14 was released on Tuesday.

(Rising Sun, Ind.) – It was a good week for Rising Sun High School student-athletes.

The Ohio River Valley Conference on Tuesday announced its baseball, softball, boys golf and track & field performers of the week for April 9-14.

Rising Sun’s Brent Turner is the ORVC Baseball Player of the Week. Turner was lights out on the mound pitching two compete games. During the two-game stretch, Turner stuck out 18 batters and allowed only one earned run. He also went 5-6 at the plate and drove in two runs.

The ORVC Softball Player of the Week went to Rising Sun’s Lindsay Montgomery. The Lady Shiners star tallied 7 runs, 6 RBIs, 5 hits, 3 stolen bases and 2 home runs in three games.

Southwestern’s Hunter Mefford is the ORVC Boys Golfer of the Week. Mefford shot a 43 at Westwood and was the medalist at the Jennings County Invite with a 71 at St. Annes.

The ORVC Boys Track & Field Performers of the Week are South Ripley’s Luke Welch and Shawe Memorial’s Leon Kinne. On the girls side, Rising Sun’s Kinsey Price and Shawe Memorial’s Lauren Lundergan shared the honor.
