(St. Leon, Ind.) - There was interest from many, but Josh Ringer is a RedHawk.

The East Central junior running back verbally committed to Miami (Oh.) on Wednesday.

Ringer is listed as a three-star athlete by 247 Sports. He has starred at running back the past three seasons for East Central. This past season, Ringer ran for 2,368 yards (third-most in school history) and 39 touchdowns (school record).

In the state championship game, Ringer carried the ball 24 times for 171 yards and four touchdowns, tying a Class 4A State Championship game record for rushing touchdowns.

Following his monster junior season, Ringer was a no-doubt selection to the IFCA Class 4A Junior All-State Team.

He chose Miami (Oh.) over Air Force, Army, Austin Peay, Ball State, Columbia, Dartmouth, Eastern Kentucky, Eastern Michigan, Penn, and Yale.
