ORVC Report Highlights Top Performers From First Month Of Fall Sports Season

(Undated) – Several student-athletes who play in the Ohio River Valley Conference have been recognized for their early season performances in various fall sports. 

The ORVC report for August 9-21 and August 23-29 were released on Tuesday.

Rising Sun’s Kendall Montgomery was the top performer in boys soccer between August 9-21. The Shiners star recorded five goals and two assists over two matches.

The top girls soccer player to start the month was Switzerland County’s Raylinn Kappes. She scored five goals and assisted on two others in three matches.

South Ripley’s Lanie Nicholson and Luke Bradley started the cross country season with strong performances at Southwestern Shelbyville. Nicholson finished with a time of 21:00, while Bradley crossed the finish line with a time of 21:02.

The ORVC Volleyball Player of the Week for August 23-29 went to Jac-Cen-Del’s Aundrea Cullen. In two matches, Cullen accumulated 37 digs, 11 kill attempts, 5 aces, and 2 kills. She also completed 90 percent of her passes and put 89 percent of her serves in play.

Lanie Nicholson repeated as the ORVC Girls Runner of the Week with at time of 20:16 at South Decatur and 20:17 at Rushville.

The ORVC Boys Runner of the Week for August 23-29 went to Jac-Cen-Del’s Josh Pohle. The Eagles star ran a 17:38 at South Decatur and a 17:59 at Rushville.

Milan’s Kayla Walke is the latest ORVC Girls Golfer of the Week. Walke shot 47 at St. Anne’s, 48 at Belterra, and 58 at Hidden Acres.

In boys soccer, Switzerland County’s Cooper Todd is the Player of the Week. Todd totaled four goals and two assists in three matches.

The ORVC Girls Soccer Player of the Week went to Milan’s Alyssa Phelps. She scored two goals and assisted on two others over a two match span.
