(Aspen, Colo.) – Local Olympian Nick Goepper will be in action at the X Games this week.

Goepper is competing at the Winter X Games in Aspen, Colorado. The Lawrenceburg native has won gold at Winter X three times, plus two silver medals, since 2013.

The qualifying rounds in men’s ski slopestyle happen Thursday afternoon, which you can watch on the X Games’ YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter pages. If Goepper does well enough, he’ll qualify for the event’s finals to be held Sunday, January 27 and televised nationally on ESPN 2.

Goepper won’t be the only person representing southeastern Indiana at the X Games. Versailles’ Chris Perdue is a member of Special Olympics Indiana – Ripley Ohio Dearborn. For the third straight year, he will compete in the Special Olympics Unified Snowboarding. You can also watch that on the X Games social media channels Thursday afternoon.

We’ve told you before about Perdue. The South Ripley High School graduate won gold at the Special Olympics World Winter Games in snowboarding giant slalom in 2017. He was later named Special Olympics Indiana’s Athlete of the Year.
