Loichinger, Wedding Sit Atop SIRC-IT Standings After Three Races

There is a new leader on the female leaderboard.

(Brookville, Ind.) – Ean Loichinger still holds the overall lead, but it was a Brookville man who won the third leg of the 2018 Southeastern Indiana Racing Circuit.

Jeremiah Vaughan, 28, of Brookville, was the winner of the Lakeside 5K on Saturday, July 21. He completed the race in 16:30, just two seconds ahead of 14-year-old Ean Loichinger.

Through three races, Loichinger holds a total time of 49:35, which is good for a 7:21 lead over second-place Dwayne Steele, 40, of Seymour.

The female winner at the Lakeside 5K was South Ripley High School’s Megan Cole with a time of 19:02. Cole also won the previous weekend at the Trojan Trot 5K in St. Leon. However, she doesn’t qualify for the overall lead because she did not compete in the first race of the SIRC-it.

Elizabeth Loichinger had previously held the top spot in the female competition but failed to enter the Lakeside 5K.

Therefore, the new overall leader in the female division is Emilee Wedding, 16, of Lawrenceburg, with a total time of 1:05:46. East Central High School’s Lauren and Lily Greiwe are tied for second at 1:09:40.

Ninety competitors ran in the Lakeside 5K. Find full results at Stuart Road Racing’s website.

The next SIRC-it stop is the Knight Flight 5K in Aurora on Saturday, July 28 at 8:30 a.m.
