GIRLS BASKETBALL

Lawrenceburg 49, Oldenburg Academy 47 – Juliana Kemper led LHS with 22 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 steals.

South Dearborn 33, Madison 31 – South Dearborn escaped with the victory thanks to a double-double by Kyrstin Bond with 12 points, 11 rebounds, 4 steals, and 3 assists. Alyssa McClanahan added 14 points and 2 assists.

SWIMMING & DIVING

Batesville opened the season with a tri-meet win at South Dearborn High School in Aurora on Tuesday. BHS tallied 121 points while Switzerland County was second with 91 and South Dearborn third with 53. Batesville won six of the 12 events. Freshman Maria Lopez set the pace leading off the 200 Medley and winning the 100 Butterfly and 100 Backstroke. Senior Kate Poltrack and Junior Allison Storms were also event winners in the 200 Freestyle and 100 Breast, respectively.

“Our girls swam extremely well,” BHS coach Greg McMullen said. “It was great to see some them back in the water racing and seeing how the early season training is paying off.”

South Dearborn’s Holly Kraemer was the winner in the 200 yard IM and 500 yard free. Switz’s Zoe Cole won the 100 yard free and Abigail Niswander won the 50 yard free, and both contributed to a win in the 200 yard free relay.
