IHSAA 4A Sectional 14 at Bloomington South – First Round

Columbus North 6, East Central 5 – EC’s Natalie Schnell was 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, and 3 RBI.

 

IHSAA 2A Sectional 45 at Switzerland County

Switzerland County 5, Milan 4 – Milan’s RBIs were knocked in by Cassie Franklin, Courtney Bruns, and Taryn Cline. Erin Widener pitched well for the Indians in 8.1 innings with 10 Ks and 7 hits allowed while only giving up one earned run. Switz advances to play Southwestern in the sectional championship game on Thursday, May 23.

 

IHSAA 1A Sectional 60 at Rising Sun – Semi-Finals

Rising Sun 10, Jac-Cen-Del 0 – Rising Sun collected 10 hits in the win. Sydney Bostic was 2-for-2 with a double, a walk, and 3 RBI. Tyrrah Miller was 2-for-3 with a double and 3 RBI. Sydney Pitts pitched all 5 innings with 2 Ks while only surrendering 4 hits and no runs. Rising Sun will play against Hauser in the sectional championship game on Thursday, May 23.

TRACK & FIELD

IHSAA Girls Track & Field Regional at Shelbyville

South Ripley’s Megan Cole was the regional champion in the 3200 meter run on Tuesday at the IHSAA regional meet held at Shelbyville High School. Her time of 11:11.17 bested Franklin Community’s Lillian Lacy at 11:13.44.

Athletes had to finish third-place or better to earn automatic advancement to the IHSAA Girls Track & Field State Finals. A handful from our area did so.

East Central had a few state finals qualifiers. The EC 4x100 meter relay team of Brianna Lobensten, Alicia Rosemeyer, Emma Fey, and Eva Grimm placed third at 50.11. The 4x400 meter relay time of 4:04.51 was good for third place for the team of Eva Grimm, Ellie Lengerich, Lily Greiwe, and Emma Fey. The Trojans’ 4x800 meter relay team of Lile Greiwe, Emilee Wedding, Ellie Lengerich, and Emma Fey were third with a time of 9:45.00. Pole vaulter Casey Johnson was third in the event with a height of 10’6”.

South Dearborn’s Evan Quinlan was third in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 46.50 seconds, earning a state finals appearance.

The regional team title was won by Warren Central with 107 points, followed by Center Grove and New Palestine at the 26-team meet. East Central placed fifth, Franklin County 11th, South Dearborn tied 16th with South Ripley and Batesville, and Lawrenceburg 24th.
