Ripley County Track & Field Championship

The Batesville boys and girls emerged as the champions at the annual Ripley County meet hosted at Batesville Thursday. BHS girls had 99 points with South Ripley second, Jac-Cen-Del third, and Milan fourth. For the boys, Batesville won with 118.5 points, Milan was second, JCD third, and South Ripley fourth. Batesville boys won 11 of 16 events and the girls won 10 of 16.

BHS’ Katie Olsen set a new meet record in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:21.94. The Batesville 4x800 meter relay team of Olsen, Elizabeth Loichinger, Lily Pinckley, and Trysta Vierling posted a new record of 10:14.50. South Ripley’s Megan Cole broke two records in the 1600 meter run (5:17.69) and the 3200 meter run (11:16.72).

In the boys competition, Batesville’s Adam Moster set a record in the 800 meter run with 1:56.62 seconds. BHS’ Joshua Myers set a new 1600 meter run record at 4:34.91. The Batesville 4x800 meter relay team of Moster, James Kuisel, Jonathan Lynch, and Benjamin Moster set a new record in 8:53.03. Kent Meyers, of Batesville, had a high jump of 5’10” for a new meet record. Milan’s Peyton Cavins was a record breaker with a time of 11.18 in the 100 meter dash. Teammate Matthew Riehle set a new record in the 400 meter dash at 49.93 seconds.

Best of the West Track Meet

The East Central girls repeated as champions at the annual Best of the West Track Meet, held Thursday at Oak Hills High School. The East Central boys finished second in the boys competition. Taylor girls were fifth and Harrison girls were 6th.

Girls 4x400 meter relay team of Eva Grimm, Ellie Lengerich, Lily Greiwe and Emma Fey

Girls shot put – Logan Cox

Girls long jump – Ellie Lengerich

Girls high jump – Megan Sierra

Girls pole vault – Casey Johnson

Boys 110 meter hurdles – Mac Studer

Boys 300 meter hurdles – Chase Ludwig

Boys 200 meter dash – Alex Hornbach

Boys 4x400 meter relay team of Alex Hornbach, Clayton Deitsch, Erik Perkins, and Chase Ludwig
