(Batesville, Ind.) – Only one Southeastern Indiana Racing Circuit event remains.
The Bulldog Chase 5K takes place Saturday in Batesville at 8:30 a.m.
Going into the final of six SIRC races, Joe Hawkins, 15 (Greensburg) leads the overall male leaderboard with a total time of 1:06:40.
Milan High School’s Ben Riehle holds second place with a total time of 1:07:34. He is followed by Oldenburg native Isaac Trossman (1:14:01).
Hawkins is coming off a win at the Indian Trails 5K in Milan, where he crossed the finish line six seconds ahead of Riehle. The week prior, Riehle beat out Hawkins at the Lakeside 5K in Brookville by three seconds.
In the female division, Lanie Nicholson, 19, of Versailles, holds the overall lead. Her total time is 1:19:50. Nicholson holds a substantial lead over second place Kimberly Johnson, 52, of College Corner, Ohio. Johnson’s total time is 1:24:59, followed by Susan Morgan, 47, of Lawrenceburg (1:31:17).
Nicholson has been the top female performer the last two races, placing 10th at the Lakeside 5K and 13th overall at the Indian Trails 5K.
Proceeds from each race benefit the cross country program at the host school.
