(St. Leon, Ind.) - Four of the top girls basketball players in the area have been recognized for their play this season.

The Hoosier Basketball Coaches Association announced their 2020-21 Girls All-District Teams on Wednesday.

The District 3 Team included East Central’s Kyla Maxwell, Jac-Cen-Del’s Paige Ledford, and the Greensburg duo of Melina Wilkison and Taylor Cooney.

Maxwell has been a mainstay in Coach Kevin Moore's lineup for four years. As a senior, Maxwell is averaging 6.5 points, 5.2 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 2.0 steals per game, while shooting 51 percent from the field. Maxwell's efforts have helped East Central (#9 in Class 4A) to a 17-4 record. The Lady Trojans will take on Martinsville (#10 in Class 4A) in the sectional semi-finals on Friday.

Jac-Cen-Del star Paige Ledford has had a remarkable season, leading the ORVC in scoring (15.4 ppg) and rebounding (11.0 rpg). Earlier this season, Ledford became the 13th individual in state history to record 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds for her career. Ledford will continue her playing career at Thomas More University, but not before trying for a state championship. Jac-Cen-Del is ranked #2 in Class 1A and will take on Morristown in the sectional semi-finals on Friday.

Wilkison and Cooney have scored in bunches for Greensburg this season. Wilkison comes into sectional play averaging 17.0 points per game, while Cooney averages 12.9 points per contest.
