(Columbus, Ind.) – East Central’s Kyra Hall broke her own school records in securing a spot in two events at the IHSAA Swimming & Diving State Finals.

Hall, a sophomore, took first place in the 100 yard butterfly event at Saturday’s IHSAA Girls Swimming & Diving Sectional at Columbus North High School. Her 58.88 seconds time was a new East Central record, and more than two seconds better than the second place finisher from Columbus North High School.

She nearly claimed a sectional crown in a second event. She was the runner-up in the 100 yard backstroke by about one second. Luckily, her time of 57.65 seconds - another school record - was good enough to meet the state time standard for a slot in that event at the state finals.

Hall will compete for a state championship at the state finals to be held Friday and Saturday, February 8 and 9 at the Indiana University Natatorium on the campus of IUPUI in Indianapolis.

Of the southeastern Indiana schools represented at the sectional meet, East Central had the best team finish at sixth place. Batesville was seventh, Milan ninth, Lawrenceburg 10th, Oldenburg Academy 12th, South Ripley 13th and South Dearborn 14th.
