(Aurora, Ind.) – Two local youth softball players shined on the national stage this past week in Missouri.

Carli Walter and Ava Cutter, both students at Aurora Elementary School, played with the Indiana Magic Gold team (IMG) from Indianapolis at the USSSA 9U Girls Fast-Pitch Softball National Tournament in Branson, Missouri.

Both were asked to join the team after competing against them on a few occasions with their primary travel team, the Indiana Outlaws.

Despite not being regulars for IMG, Walter and Cutter played pivotal roles in helping the team advance through the tournament. Known as the “Splash Sisters,” Walter and Cutter showed some power at the tourney with numerous doubles and triples. Walter also pitched in relief for IMG, including three shutout innings in the semifinals.

Throughout the tournament, IMG defeated teams from Missouri, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Texas and Indiana – eventually reaching the championship game.

However, IMG finished as the runner-up after losing a hard-fought championship game to the Oklahoma Angels by a score of 8-7.
