UPDATE: Reported Rape "Did Not Occur," Cleves Police Say

UPDATE: Cleves Police said Wednesday that a reported rape "did not occur."

Update published September 11, 2019:

Cleves Police have announced a major turn in a report of a woman being raped as she walked down the sidewalk.

"It has been determined through our investigation that the above assault did not occur," the police department said in a news release Wednesday.

A woman had reported being kidnapped as she walked along North Miami Avenue in Cleves on Saturday, September 7. She claimed she had been dragged away and then raped.

Cleves Police have not said if the person who made the newly-debunked rape report will be charged.

(Cleves, Oh.) - Police in Cleves are searching for a suspect who reportedly attacked a woman on North Miami Avenue Saturday night, September 7.

The victim told police she was walking on the 600 block of North Miami Avenue at around 9:00 p.m. when a male suspect grabbed her from behind. The woman said she was dragged a short distance and raped.

She called police after getting back to her residence.

Cleves Police say the suspect was a white man, about 40-years-old with a short brown or black hair, small mustache, short beard, 5’7” to 5’10”, and weighing 170 lbs. The suspect also had a skull tattoo on his left shoulder and a missing tooth near the front of his mouth.
