(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - A new candidate who has entered the race for Lawrenceburg mayor could make local history. Linda Estes filed with the Dearborn County Clerk of Courts on Monday as an independent candidate. If elected, she would be Lawrenceburg’s first female mayor. “Giving much thought to everything going on in Lawrenceburg, I believe I can make a difference for all of the people of Lawrenceburg! It was weighing very heavy on my heart to take a stand, and step up to the plate and run for the people of Lawrenceburg,” she said Tuesday. She is running against Democrat incumbent mayor Dennis Carr and Republican Kelly Mollaun. Estes’ entrance into the race does give Lawrenceburg voters a third option instead of a repeat of the 2012 general election when voters chose Carr over Mollaun. Estes worked in law enforcement from 1995 through 2009. She was the chief of the Hidden Valley Lake Rangers from 2003 until 2009. She has been a licensed private investigator since 2005.
