(West Harrison, Ind.) – The Dearborn County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim of a fatal three-vehicle crash that took place Tuesday afternoon in West Harrison.
Barbara Nelson, 59, suffered fatal injuries in the crash at Harrison Brookville Road and Johnson Fork.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the preliminary investigation revealed that Nelson was traveling east on Harrison Brookville Road at a high rate of speed when her vehicle traveled left of center striking an oncoming vehicle.
The impact caused Nelson’s vehicle to overturn and catch on fire. A third vehicle was also involved.
Nelson was still in the vehicle when she was pronounced deceased.
The other vehicles involved were heavily damaged with remains from one of the vehicles being found approximately 100 yards away.
Ethan Grubbs, 18, of Batesville, and Tab Prater, 65, both were extricated from their vehicles and transported to UC Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
