Versailles Pumpkin Show Winner Announced

Inclement weather did not stop the Giant Pumpkin Contest and Parade from happening.

(Versailles, Ind.) – A little rain couldn’t stop the Versailles Pumpkin Show from going on over the weekend.

While some bands were unable to perform due to the weather, the event still featured popular festivities such the Giant Pumpkin Contest and Parade.

Jerry Walker grew this year’s heaviest pumpkin at 1000.5 pounds. He also finished third with a pumpkin weighing 562.5 pounds.

Last year’s winner, Jim Gunther, of Corydon, who grew the largest pumpkin in event history at 1,765 pounds, was back this year. He finished second with a weight of 740.5.

The Heaviest Pumpkin Youth winner was Allison Adams at 53 pounds.
