UPDATE: One In Critical Condition After SR 56 Crash; Road Reopen To Traffic

A passenger vehicle and semi were involved in an accident near Rising Star Casino.

Update published at 3:08 p.m.: 

The Ohio County Sheriff's Office has confirmed that a female involved in the crash is in critical condition and in ICU at UC Medical Center. The name of the women was not released. 

State Road 56 has since reopened to traffic after being shut down for multiple hours.

(Rising Sun, Ind.) – State Road 56 is shut down in Rising Sun following a serious accident.

Ohio County Dispatch has confirmed that a passenger vehicle and semi were involved in an accident near Rising Star Casino just before 9:00 a.m.

One person was reportedly ejected from their vehicle and air care has been called to the scene.

State Road 56 is expected to be closed for several hours. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and find an alternative route, if possible.
