Firefighters work to free a truck driver from a mangled cab on Interstate 71/75 Tuesday morning. Provided by Erlanger Police Dept. Update published at 12:51 p.m.: I-71/75 northbound in Erlanger has reopened to traffic following a crash that force the interstate to be closed for more than five hours. The FedEx truck involved in the accident was badly damaged in the wreck. It was also hauling two trailers, each of which had to be towed from the scene. Original story published at 10:57 a.m.: (Erlanger, Ky.) - A crash between two semis has forced emergency crews to shut down Interstate 71/75 northbound in Erlanger on Tuesday morning. A truck hauling dual FedEx trailers rear-ended a second semi on the interstate at the interchange with I-275 at around 7:15 a.m. It took more than one hour for firefighters to free the driver of the FedEx truck, which was badly damaged in the crash. The highway closure has gone on for more than three hours. I-71/75 remains closed at the crash scene as of 10:45 a.m. It is unclear when the interstate may reopen.
