(West Harrison, Ind.) - Flash flooding necessitate a water rescue in West Harrison Tuesday evening.
Dearborn County Water Rescue, along with fire departments from New Trenton and Harrison, responded to a flooded area on Barber Road, according to water rescue captain Bill Black.
The emergency crews rescued two people and three dogs out of two different homes.
“The Whitewater River was flowing quickly and was still rising as the rescue was happening. No one was injured during the operation,” Black said.
After heavy rainfall Tuesday, the Whitewater River at Brookville crested at about 20.3 feet Tuesday evening, just a few inches above flood stage. The river has since receded back into its banks.
