Traffic Impacts on I-71 in Boone County Beginning Friday

(Boone County, Ky.) - The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet advises motorists of upcoming traffic impacts on Interstate 71 in Boone County beginning Friday, November 14.

These traffic impacts are associated with the ongoing I-71 resurfacing project in Boone County.

Crews will be performing chip and seal shouldering for safety. Work is scheduled to take place from 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14 through 7 a.m. Monday, Nov. 17. The following traffic impacts will take place during this period:

  • Single left lane closure on I-71 northbound and southbound from the I-71 and I-75 split to the Boone/Gallatin County line (69.8 mile point to 77.4 mile point).
  • The ramp from I-75 northbound to I-71 southbound will be closed. Motorists can detour using the Richwood Road exit.

Message boards and signage will be in place to warn motorists of the upcoming lane/ramp closures. Additionally, traffic may shift through various portions of the project. Signage will be in place to warn motorists of any upcoming lane shifts.

Motorists should drive carefully as construction equipment will be entering/exiting the work zone during this time period. Motorists should expect delays over the weekend and are encouraged to find alternate routes.
