(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - A Lawrenceburg street has been renamed for one of the city’s most respected former policemen. Detective Sergeant Tom Cochran died in the line of duty on January 26, 2005. He was in a car crash on the old State Road 48 while heading to an emergency call in 2005. Lawrenceburg and Dearborn County law enforcement gathered for the renaming of Tom Cochran Lane on Tuesday. Cochran’s family was also there. The newly named street is located off of West Tate Street, behind the Lawrenceburg Police Department’s headquarters. Last month, Cochran's gravesite headstone at River View Cemetery near Aurora was vandalized. No arrests have been made. Photo by Mike Perleberg, Eagle 99.3.
