Thieving Credit Counselor Gets Year In Prison

By Matt Popovich

(Sunman, Ind.) - Sandra Sicking, 62, of Sunman, Indiana, has been convicted of theft and was sentenced to year in prison Tuesday, reports the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Sicking, who was working as a credit counselor at Cinfed Credit Union, was accused of stealing over $300,000 from her clients.

This is not the first time she has been accused of stealing from her elderly clients. Sicking was convicted of theft one year ago after stealing nearly $40,000 from clients. She was sentenced to probation, but prosecutors were not done investigating Sicking’s theft.

Sicking’s clients, many of whom were elderly, would deposit money with Cinfed Credit Union, allowing Sicking to budget their money. Sicking would give her clients a small spending allowance each week to go towards living expenses.

Sicking has been ordered to pay back the money she stole, but many of her clients may not ever see their money again because it is hard to know exactly how much she stole from each client, prosecutors said.

She has recently been ordered to sell property worth around $180,000 to repay some of the stolen money.

Cinfed Credit Union cooperated with investigators looking into Sicking's activity. The business had also independently investigated her.
