(Dearborn County, Ind.) - Crews have successfully removed the aged bridge deck on two of the five truss bridge spans on the State Road 46 bridge over the Whitewater River.
Continued work will include rehabilitating steel members of the bridge, which includes repairs, sandblasting and painting, constructing the new bridge deck surface, as well as complete joint replacement work.
The project started in early June and is expected to be completed by late November. Additional rehabilitation work will take place on S.R. 46 over Whitewater River in spring 2026. INDOT will provide additional information and updates as work progresses.
A closure is in place on the S.R. 46 truss bridge located between U.S. 52 and Barber Road. S.R. 46. Motorists should use the official detour route which follows U.S. 52 to I-74 to S.R. 1.
