Thieves Allegedly Take TV, More From Walmart

(Aurora, Ind.) – Three Cincinnati men went on a $1,600 shopping spree at the Walmart store in Aurora, but they didn’t pay.

Instead of spending money on the merchandise, Michael Hedger, Dewayne Isbel, and Robert Hulett may have to spend time behind bars.

According to an affidavit filed in Dearborn Superior Court I on November 15, Hedger and Isbel entered the box store on the evening of October 23 and selected a 42” LG television valued at $528, a Dyson vacuum valued at $449, and a HP computer priced at $650. With the high-priced items in a cart, the men were seen on surveillance video leaving the store through a fire exit and loading their loot into a black Chevrolet Suburban.

The alleged thieves were in the store just 12 minutes, Aurora Police said in the affidavit.

Aware of the thieves’ quick method of work, Walmart employees spotted Hedger and Isbel when they returned to the store just six days later on October 29. The men selected over $1,800 in mostly electronic merchandise, but left the store empty-handed when store employees began following them.

They were picked up outside the store by the same black Suburban, which Aurora Police stopped soon afterwards. Hedger and Isbel were passengers inside. The driver, identified as Robert J. Hulett told police he had been at Walmart a few days earlier with Hedger and Isbel, but denied any involvement in the theft.

Hedger, 32, and Isbel, 39, are each charged with Theft (Class D felony). Hulett, 42, faces a charge of Aiding, Inducing, or Causing Theft (Class D felony).

Hedger was arrested and booked into jail at the Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center on Wednesday, December 5.  Isbel was apprehended in Hamilton County, Ohio on the Indiana warrant on Monday, December 10. It is unclear if Hulett has been arrested.
