The acquisition marks a new chapter for the 22-room historic property.

(Batesville, Ind.) - The Sherman, the historic boutique inn anchoring downtown Batesville, has been acquired and is now under new local ownership and management by Immaculata Management LLC, led by principals Tim Catalano, Leron Giesting, and Tim Hill.
The acquisition marks a new chapter for the 22-room historic property while preserving the legacy established through years of careful restoration and operation by previous owners Peyton Hughes and Georg Heringer, who will remain actively involved in day-to-day operations during the transition. They will continue as legacy partners into the future. Their ongoing presence ensures the inn’s spirit and continuity remain intact; The Sherman would not be what it is without their care and dedication.
Immaculata Management LLC is a locally based ownership and operating group formed specifically to guide the next phase of The Sherman with an emphasis on stewardship, hospitality and downtown vitality. The group’s philosophy is informed by Franciscan principles of care for place, service to others and humility in growth.
Tim Hill will serve as full-time General Manager, stepping away from a 20-year career in real estate development and design leadership in Indianapolis and Cincinnati to focus on daily operations and community engagement.
The Sherman currently includes an inn and specialty gift shop and this spring brings renewed energy with the reopening of the BierHaus and Biergarten under a newly signed lease operator. This opening only affects the factory restaurant and biergarten. Plans to open the 1852 and Black Forest Bar are pending. The BierHaus and Biergarten will open first.
The Sherman has concentrated on core, welcoming accommodations in recent years, providing a peaceful retreat amid Southeast Indiana's countryside. The Sherman has long served as a center of travel and social life in Southeast Indiana. Planned enhancements under the new ownership will be thoughtful and measured, with no interruption to current operations.
