Switzerland Co. Residents Receive Duke Energy Scam Calls

Please remember that no one should ever give credit card or personal information over the phone.

(Switzerland, Co.) - The Switzerland County Sheriff's Office is urging you to ignore scam phone calls that may be coming from Duke-Energy.

Switzerland County residents have been receiving scam calls saying that they are from Duke-Energy and threatening to shut off people’s electricity if they are not given credit card info immediately.

The Sheriff’s office has spoken with Duke-Energy who stated procedure is to send a Notice on your bill that you have been scheduled for disconnection, which may be followed up by an automated recording 2 days prior to shut off. Duke Energy will not have a representative call your home or business.

Please remember that no one should ever give credit card or personal information over the phone.
