Suspect With Weapon on Boone Co. School Grounds Arrested After Three-Vehicle Accident

The juvenile suspect reportedly brandished a firearm on school ground after school hours on Wednesday.

(Florence, Ky.) – A juvenile suspect has been arrested after allegedly bringing a firearm onto Boone County High School grounds.

Florence Police responded to Boone County High School on Wednesday around 2:50 p.m. after receiving a report of a subject with a weapon on school grounds.

According to the report, a male subject entered the parking lot (after school hours) and displayed a handgun. The suspect then got into a silver Nissan Altima and left the area at a high rate of speed.

Before officers could locate the vehicle, it was involved in a three vehicle collision at KY 18 and Ewing Boulevard.

The juvenile suspect was taken into custody at the scene of the crash and was found to be in possession of a handgun, according to Florence Police.

The juvenile is charged with Unlawful Possession of a Weapon on School Property, Possession of a Handgun by a Minor, Disorderly Conduct, Menacing, Wanton Endangerment, Assault, No Operator’s License, and Failure of a Non-Owner to Maintain Insurance.

Through the investigation it was determined that there were no threats made and this appears to be an isolated incident.
