Student Arrested For Indiana State Univ. Shooting

Photo by Indiana State University (Terre Haute, Ind.) - A student at Indiana State University is facing attempted murder charges for allegedly shooting another student in the buttocks. The shooting happened Saturday in a stairwell of a dorm near Lincoln Quad.  It led to a lockdown of the campus. University Police Chief Joseph Newport says the gunman and the victim knew each other, and had spent time together before the shooting. "We feel that this particular event was between these two people," said Newport. "And I guess the best thing I can say, almost in summary, is that if people behave themselves, then they are less likely to become a target of violent crime." The alleged gunman, 21-year-old Calvin McCauley, was arrested Sunday.  He could appear in court in Tippecanoe County on Monday. Newport said that the shooting victim has not been fully cooperative in the investigation.
