(St. Leon, Ind.) - A threatening post on Instagram has Sunman-Dearborn Community Schools and law enforcement pursuing charges against an East Central High School student.
The threatening Instagram post was reported to school staff on Monday, April 29, according to a letter sent to parents by Sunman-Dearborn Community Schools Superintendent Andrew Jackson. Administrators say the student who allegedly made the post was immediately located and questioned.
The student was then detained and arrested by the Dearborn County Sheriff’s Office. His locker and a school bus were also searched, but no weapons were found.
“School administration will pursue the most severe consequences allowed by the school handbook and Indiana Code,” Jackson wrote in the parent letter.
He added that the schools take all threats to safety seriously. He encouraged people to report when they “see or hear something.”
