(Oldenburg, Ind.) – Streetlight upgrades could be in store for the Town of Oldenburg.

Oldenburg Town Council and the Oldenburg Renewable Energy Commission invite Oldenburg residents and friends of the town to visit Freudenfest on Friday, July 19 or Saturday, July 20 to help “light-up” Oldenburg.

OTC president Denny Moeller says the town would like to upgrade its 61 streetlights with new LED replacement fixtures and bulbs before the end of the year.

Moeller added that the cost of project is just over $25,000 but will save the town 70 percent in month bill payments and reduce the town’s greenhouse gas emissions.

Donations can be made during Freudenfest at the Oldenburg Renewable Energy Commission booth. All donors will be acknowledged on the town’s new website, www.oldenburgindiana.org/orec.

Oldenburg is one of 13 Indiana cities putting together efforts to assess their community’s contribution to global climate change.
