Street Closures Announced For Fire Truck Pull In Downtown Lawrenceburg

There is still time to register to participate in Saturday's event.

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – A handful of downtown Lawrenceburg streets will be closed during the annual Fire Truck Pull to benefit Special Olympics.

The City of Lawrenceburg will close the following streets on Saturday, August 14 between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

  • Lawrenceburg Civic Park is closed to through traffic
  • E. High Street between Short Street to alley between Short Street and Elm Street
  • Short Street between New Street to Proof 124 Restaurant

Parking will be available at the Ivy Tech parking garage via Walnut Street or New Street.

Fire Truck Pull events will begin at 11:00 a.m. with the opening of the Firehouse Grill concession stand. The event will also feature Safety Town, Opening Ceremony, and Kiddie Pull.

The Pull will serve as the finale to the event, starting around 2:15. Teams of 15 or less will see who can pull a Lawrenceburg Fire ladder truck (37 tons) 50 feet in the shortest amount of time.

Teams and individuals may still register for the event at www.soindiana-rod.org/ftp. On-site registration will be held Saturday between noon and 1:15 p.m.

All proceeds from the event will benefit Special Olympians residing in Ripley, Ohio, and Dearborn counties – allowing athletes to train and compete on a local, state, national, and international level.
