State Sen. Maxwell Announces Support for Redrawing Congressional Districs

Republicans currently hold a 7-2 advantage in the U.S. House delegation.

INDIANAPOLIS - State Senator Randy Maxwell (R-Guilford) is in favor of redrawing Indiana's congressional districts.

"After careful consideration and hearing from constituents, I believe the time is right redraw Indiana’s congressional districts," Maxwell said in a statement. "I am in full support of President Trump and his initiatives, and I think it is important that we strengthen conservative representation, aligning with President Trump’s vision for fair maps that reflect our values and bolster the Make America Great Again agenda."

This stems from a nationwide redistricting effort from the White House.

In Indiana, Republicans currently hold a 7–2 advantage in the U.S. House delegation. Vice President J.D. Vance has made two recent visits to Indiana to discuss the effort to pursue another seat with legislators.

According to multiple reports, Indiana Senate Republicans do not have the votes to pass mid-decade redistricting. But efforts are continuing under Governor Mike Braun.

“I am still having positive conversations with members of the legislature. I am confident the majority of Indiana Statehouse Republicans will support efforts to ensure fair representation in congress for every Hoosier," Gov. Braun wrote in an X post this week.

The Indiana Democratic Party released a statement earlier this month following a visit to Indiana from Vice President Vance.

“The federal government is currently shutdown, veterans are going without services, thousands of law enforcement are working without pay, and tariff taxes are hurting Hoosiers. Despite this, President Donald Trump is sending his minion Vice President JD Vance to beg Indiana Republicans again to kiss the ring and fall in line."
