The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses more than 30 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades.

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - St. Elizabeth Dearborn was awarded an ‘A’ from The Leapfrog Group’s Spring 2022 Hospital Safety Grade. This is a national distinction recognizing St. Elizabeth Dearborn’s achievements in providing safer healthcare and protecting patients from harm by meeting the highest safety standards.

The Leapfrog Group is a national watchdog organization dedicated to improving healthcare quality and safety measures. The Safety Grade assigns an ‘A’, ‘B’, ‘C’, ‘D’ or ‘F’ grade to all general hospitals throughout the country and is updated every six months. It is based on their performance in preventing infections, medical errors, injuries and other harms to patients in their care.

“Patients deserve high quality care delivered in a safe environment,” said Chris Carle, Chief Operating Officer of St. Elizabeth Dearborn. “Receiving an ‘A’ from Leapfrog for the second consecutive cycle as a St. Elizabeth Healthcare facility is an honor that is indicative of the commitment our associates demonstrate every day and the crucial practices and procedures we have in place to keep our hospital and patients safe.”

“As our health care system continues to feel the strain of the pandemic, I thank the workforce and leadership of St. Elizabeth Dearborn for sustained commitment to patient safety, day in and day out,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “An ‘A’ Safety Grade is an outstanding achievement, and one that is not possible without a 24/7 effort by the entire health care workforce to protect patients from harm. This community should be proud.”

Developed under the guidance of a national Expert Panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses more than 30 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades to more than 2,700 U.S. acute-care hospitals twice per year. The Leapfrog Group’s grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public.
