SLSD To Donate Food & Clothes To Local Families In Need

Southwest Local School District Service Project will benefit those in need this holiday season.

(Harrison, Oh.) - Students from the Southwest Local School District (SLSD) again partnered with the Mayor’s Fund, This City His City, Christ’s Loving Hands, and JTM Food Group to host the annual Food and Clothing Drive.

Canned goods and other non-perishable food items were collected at the SLSD building during the week of December 9 - 13.

Coats, hats, gloves, scarves, and boots were also accepted throughout the drive.

The donated items will provide for local families that are in need during the holiday season.

About 25,000 food items were collected last year. This year, the district has hopes to match that number.

“This is our largest local community service project of the year,” says Mike Morris, SLSD’s Director of Communications. “Our community has always been great at rallying around our neighbors in need, and we know this year will be no exception.”

If you missed your opportunity to donate December 9 - 13, there is still time to participate. SLSD will accept donations as they continue to be brought in by community members.

Donations will be distributed to those who pre-registered with the Harrison Mayor's fund. Families will be able to pick up the donations on Saturday, December 21, from 9 - 11 AM in the Harrison High School Gymnasium.

The excess items will be given to local food pantries.
