Sheriff: Use Website To Track Sex Offenders

(Ripley County, Ind.) - Ripley County’s Sheriff wants citizens to know about an online service that can alert them when a sex offender moves into their neighborhood.

Offender Watch is a free service. Residents can confidentially register as many addresses as they like to receive an e-mail notification when a sex offender moves in nearby.

The service has been available in the county for the past few years.

"The launch of Offender Watch in Ripley County has been a huge success.   It allows us to be more fluent with our monitoring and allowing the public valuable information to use for their purposes.   Now days, you can't be too safe," said Sheriff Tom Grills.

As of September there were 62 sex offenders registered in Ripley County. Residents can register the address of their home, school, work, gym, day care, park, soccer field, grandparents, or any other location.

Individuals can find a link to Offender Watch on the Ripley County Sheriff’s Office website, http://www.ripleycounty.com/sheriff/offender.htm.
