(Ripley County, Ind.) - The Ripley County Community Foundation is honored to announce the establishment of the Marysue (Luhring) Knisley Nursing Scholarship which is available to students in 2024. This scholarship was established in memory of Marysue (Luhring) Knisley by the Joe and Judy Luhring Family, in hopes of continuing the positive legacy and love that Marysue shared with everyone.

Marysue was caring, generous, open-hearted, and was able to connect and relate with everyone she met. She was an exceptional listener and always gave a shoulder to lean on. All of these qualities is what made Marysue a highly effective nurse. Having a passion for learning and a constant desire to push herself to the next level, Marysue built her career as a nurse earning many credentials - RN, BSN, MBA, MSN, CLNC, expanding her career from nurse, to medical compliance consultant. She gave 100 percent to each company she worked for and left a legacy of inspiration to countless nurses, physicians, coworkers, family members, and friends, whose lives and careers continue to be shaped by her leadership and mentorship. Her family has created this scholarship to continue Marysue’s unending determination and drive and to support the medical professionals of tomorrow. “Marysue had a zest for life which was built upon her warm smile. By providing this scholarship, we hope that Marysue’s love for her fellow human being will inspire those just starting out on their journey as a nurse, to stay ever focused on providing quality care to all in need,” stated Joe and Judy Luhring, Marysue’s parents.

The Marysue (Luhring) Knisley Nursing Scholarship will distribute a $1,000 award which will support a current nursing student from Ripley or Franklin County who is pursuing a bachelor’s degree as an RN. The application due date is June 1, 2024 and can be accessed through the Ripley County Community Foundation’s website at https://rccfonline.org/scholarships/.
