Prison Time, Community Service Given To Distracted Driver Who Killed Three

The fatal accident happened in March of 2015 on Weaver Road in Florence.

(Florence, Ky.) - A distracted driver that killed two young children and their grandfather has been sentenced to jail time and community service. 

On Monday,  Jessica Hood, 25 was sentenced to 7 ½ years in prison for the March 2015 deaths of Charles Napier and his twin 13-month-old grandchildren, reports WCPO-9

Investigators say Hood was on using her cellphone when she crashed into the three individuals on Weaver Road. Two other pedestrians were also injured in the accident. 

Hood pleaded guilty to three counts of manslaughter and two counts of assault last month. 

As part of her sentencing, Hood must pay a $5,000 fine, and is required to complete 500 hours of community service speaking to children about using cellphones while driving.
