(Indianapolis, Ind.) – A new poll gives Indiana Senator Joe Donnelly an edge over his Republican challenger.
According to a new NBC/Marist Poll, Donnelly holds a 49 percent to 43 percent advantage among likely voters over GOP candidate Mike Braun. The margin of error for likely voters is plus or minus five percent, which means the race is basically a toss-up.
Seven percent of likely voters said they are undecided.
Donnelly’s advantage is the same margin among registered voters with the Democrat getting the edge over Braun 48 to 42 percent.
When the poll includes Libertarian candidate Lucy Brenton, Donnelly’s lead over Braun shrinks to 44 to 41 percent.
The Indiana Senate race appears to be one of the more important races come November. The winner could help determine which party wins control of the chamber.
