(Aurora, Ind.) - Dearborn County was hit by a significant storm system overnight, causing damage across the county.

In the Aurora area, the area of Cole Lane and East Laughery Creek Road were especially hit hard.

One family lost their home while others sustained property damage and downed trees.

The storms rolled through southeastern Indiana shortly after midnight on June 18. While a tornado has yet to be officially confirmed, Dearborn County Emergency Management says the significant weather event likely resulted in a tornado touching down.

At this time emergency responders have been working to verify everyone is safe and accounted for along with ensuring roadways and utilities are secured. One injury was reported, but that person denied treatment.

Due to the resulting damage to power lines and trees East Laughery Creek Road and Cole Lane are closed and will remain closed for an extended time period.

Anyone that received storm damage should call Dearborn County Emergency Management at (812) 537-3971 Option 2. Please leave a
message if you do not get an answer. You can also e-mail reports to EMA@dearborncounty.in.gov.
