Phone Scam Reported in Ripley County

The Ripley County Sheriff's Office will never ask you to pay a fine over the phone.

(Ripley County, Ind.) - Residents of Ripley County are being reminded that the Ripley County Sheriff's Office will never ask you to pay a fine over the phone. 

There is a scam currently circulating where someone is calling people claiming to be Sgt. Henry Green from the Ripley County Sheriff's Office.

He is informing people they have missed a court date and need to pay a fine over the phone with a credit card or they will have an arrest warrant issued.

The caller ID of the scammer is a spoof number appearing to be the Sheriff's Office number of 812-689-5558.
