Osgood Entrepreneur Passes Away at 66

(Osgood, Ind.) - Community members are mourning the loss of a local entrepreneur. 

Jerry Vollmer passed away on Sunday at the age of 66. 

Vollmer was born in Batesville and graduated from Jac-Cen-Del High School in 1977. At just 18-years-old, Vollmer began his career in insurance. 

He opened his first insurance office near the Damm Theatre in Osgood. As his business grew, he relocated several times. Vollmer would go on to found Voldico Insurance, a company that now supports agencies across the U.S. 

Vollmer was also known for community roles including the Jaycees, Osgood Lions Club, Osgood Beautification Committee, and was a cadet with Osgood Fire. He was also instrumental in the consolidation of the elementary schools, and was a part of the leadership to the Economic Development Board and the Margaret Mary Community Foundation. 

Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 6 from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Osgood First Baptist Church. 

Memorials may be made to the Greendale or Mud Pike Cemetaries or the Osgood Fire Department.
